They came... at last!

here are some pix of my family who stayed with me for a week from 09.02.08 to 16.02.08. this is their first time in sydney, so i have been showing them around a fair bit, ok, a lot! we did pretty much most of the touristy stuff, from the blue mountains to the hunter valley and everything in between. it was awesome to have them here and it was stressful too. its kinda hard to explain to them how the aussies live here. simple things like wearing shoes in the house took me days to explain to them. not that i mind actually. its good fun to argue with them, hehe. not heated arguments though.

another mission is shopping. they seem to find it hard to buy anything because of the currency exchange rate. understandable but at times it does get to me a bit. end of the day, they manage to get some cheap souvenirs at paddy's. thank god for imitation!!!

its good to have some quiet time by myself now but at the same time, i miss them heaps. all in all, it was good fun... especially my fourth aunt, never cease to crack a joke. hope they enjoy their trip as much as i do. look forward to your next visit!!!

Movie Review...

Why does a 19 year-old girl plot to kill her own father? Katrina Skinner is stuck in suburbia with her toddler daughter and her devoted dad. Her brother Danny is in jail for life for murder. Her mother abandoned her years ago. The neighbours are scared of her. The police can't keep up with her. Nobody can control her but everybody's trying. Her dad won't mind his own business... Katrina misses her brother. All she needs to do now is convince one of her lovers to do the deed and she's never had much trouble getting men to do what she wants. All for the love of her brother. A girl without conscience, a world without morals. A family destroyed and a daughter getting away with murder. This is a sexy black comedy drama. "I knew the grandmother, she was mad - I knew the mother, she was madder. It's genetics I reckon, that's the only thing I can come up with. You can't get clean water from a dirty tank." - 100% OZ Made
Think of this film as a sick combination of Natural Born Killers and Run Lola Run. To me, its pretty clear the director is following Quentin Tarantino's style. Not as good but getting there styling wise...

This is England: Mods, New Romantics, and Skinheads are the major youth sub-cultures of this very English summer of 1983 and young 12-year-old Shaun is left wandering aimlessly alone and lost during the start of his school holidays, until his chance meeting with Woody and his fun and friendly Skinhead pack. Finding a new lease of life; girls, parties, Ben Sherman shirts, Doc Martin boots and shaven hairstyles young Shaun is welcomed, life during this summer holiday has got a whole lot better. That is until Combo arrives on the scene bitter, dangerous, racist, militant and psychotic life for young Shaun has just approached his first major crossroads. This is England is a look back at the early eighties of British working-class life through the eyes of young Shaun and his new gang, and dealing with the bitterness of outside influences such as racism and xenophobia, of mass unemployment and the fall out of the Falkland's War; Thatcher's Britain: Did we ever have it so good? When you see Shaun, ask Him.
One of the best film on this issue since American History X..... at least thats what I thought.
